Douglas Park Sports Exchange

Kia ora koutou,

What a great day the Year 5/6s had at Douglas Park School in Masterton on Tuesday in our annual sports exchange. We were respectfully welcomed with a powhiri that set the scene for a wonderful and very successful event.
Russell St came away with the Tararua Challenge flag and will proudly hold on to it until next year.

There was a whole lot more to celebrate beyond simply winning and losing. Our students were awesome and embraced the opportunity to compete even when the scoreline may have not been in their favour.

It was also fantastic to have a number of parents and whānau supporting our tamariki in conditions that were not the best. A very special mention to
our coaches and teachers who make days like this possible and prepare our students for the competition. On behalf of everyone – kia ora, thank you!

The exchange is a great opportunity for all of us; students, staff and parents, to demonstrate and see in an authentic context our school values:

Finally,  the developing friendship and camaraderie between our schools at both a child and staff level is fantastic. This is a very positive relationship with another school that will continue to go from strength to strength over the coming years and something that all students at Russell St can look forward to participating in.

Learning Conference Bookings Now Open

We are presently preparing for Learning Conferences  to be held Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4.  We are looking forward to meeting with you all. Details of how to book these times are being sent home this Wednesday.

The letter of explanation is attached here and instructions on how to book your Learning Conference are here. We’ve got pretty close to every student having a conference in years gone by but we haven’t yet hit the 100% mark.  I’m sure we can do it this time?
